Passport Requirement: Passport required
Following are the Passport Exemptions:
- Holders of an Emergency Identity Certificate issued to
nationals of India.
- Holders of photo identity cards, provided travelling
directly by air from Nepal, issued to nationals of India
(issued by the Election Commission to private citizens or by
the Government of India or the Union Territory to government
officials).
- Holders of photo identity cards, provided travelling
directly by air from Nepal, issued to nationals of Nepal
(citizenship card or photo ID issued to government officials
by Government of Nepal).
- Holders of a UN Laissez-Passer.
- Holders of a Kinderausweis identity document issued to
children by Germany.
- Holders of documents for stateless persons issued by the
U.N. or I.C.R.C., provided holding a landing permit for
India.
- Holders of a Certificate of Identity issued to refugees and
stateless persons residing in India.
- Holders of travel documents issued to stateless persons and
refugees.
Document Validity:
- Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid
on arrival.
Crew Members:
- Same regulations as for passengers apply.
However, Operational Crew (entering as a crew member and
departing as crew or passenger), must hold:
- - Passport;
- PPL (Private Property List);
- Temporary Landing Permit; and
- General Declaration.
Military:
- Same regulations as for passengers apply
Additional Information:
- Nationals of India holding double nationality, must contact
their embassy/high commission for further information.
Minors:
- Nationals of India or Nepal, provided travelling directly by
air from Nepal aged:
- up to/incl. 9 years of age, do not require any
documentation, when accompanied by parents/guardian; or
- 10 up to/incl. 18 years of age, can travel with a
certified Identity Document containing photo, issued by the
Principal or Head of an educational institution.

Germany, Japan, Macedonia (FYROM), Romania and Turkey;

- Holders of diplomatic and official passports:
- being nationals of Belarus, Denmark and Singapore;
- for a max. stay of 90 days, being nationals of Argentina,
Brazil, Bulgaria, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, Cyprus, Guyana,
Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Korea (Rep. of), Malaysia,
Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Paraguay, Peru,
Russian Fed., Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, Venezuela or
Vietnam;
- for a max. stay of 60 days, being nationals of Cambodia or
Syria;
- for a max. stay of 30 days, being nationals of Croatia,
Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Philippines,
Tajikistan or Uruguay;
- Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports being
nationals of Nicaragua for a max. stay of 90 days.
- Holders of diplomatic, official, servie and special
passports being nationals of Egypt for a max. stay of 90
days.
- Holders of a Re-entry Permit issued by India.
- Those holding a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card. Note:
the PIO must not be confused with the Overseas Citizen of
India (OCI) registration certificate booklet (SEE NOTE
35024) . If the passport has been renewed, it is required to
hold the old passport (the number of which is recorded on
the PIO) and the new passport.
NOTE 35024: Holders of the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
registration certificate booklet are issued with a U type
visa. Please note that both the OCI registration
certificate booklet and visa have to be carried and that a
"U" type visa cancels any other type of visa issued by
India. If the passport is renewed, the OCI "U" type visa
issued in the old passport remains valid, therefore, it is
required to hold both passports. Alternatively, a new visa
can be applied for, to be included in the new passport.
TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
- Holders of confirmed onward tickets for a max. transit
TIRULES/R32time of 24 hours.
- Not applicable to stateless persons and refugees.
- Hotel facilities are available in Terminal 3 at Delhi (DEL),
provided holding boarding card for connecting flight.
Merchant Seamen:
- Visa is not required for nationals of India, Buthan,
Maldives and Nepal.
- Merchant Seamen arriving by air in order to board a ship, or
if arriving by ship in order to board an aircraft must
travel on duty and hold a Seaman Book together with a
passport and a Letter of Guarantee of the shipping company.
Crew Members:
- Operating Crew: visa not required provided cleared on
Temporary Landing Permit and departing at the same time.
Positioning Crew: same regulations as for passengers apply.
Military:
- Same regulations as for passengers apply.
Visa Issuance:
- Holders of normal passports issued to nationals of Cambodia,
Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Myanmar,
Luxembourg, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam
(SEE NOTE 43220) (SEE NOTE 43221) (SEE NOTE 43222) (SEE NOTE
43223) traveling as tourist can obtain a visa on arrival,
- passport which must valid at least 6 months on arrival;
- and
- return/onward ticket; and
- sufficient funds; and
- one passport size photograph; and
- re-entry permit, if required by country of nationality.
- Fee: USD 60.-, or equivalent in INR.
Visa on arrival allows only a single entry for a max. of 2
times in a calendar year with a minimum gap of 60 days
between each visit.

Additional Information:
- Holders of multiple entry Tourist Visas (visa type code
"T"), with a validity ranging from above 3 months and up to
10 years, are required to have at least 60 days between
visits. Those wishing to re-enter before the 60 days have
expired must contact an Indian mission abroad to obtain
permission.
Travelers intending to make side-trips to neighbouring
countries as part of the same journey, should submit details
of their complete itinerary, with supporting documentation,
such as reservations, to an Indian mission or to the
immigration officer upon initial entry into India, to obtain
permission for multiple entries as part of that journey.
The Tourist Visa is non-extendable. Visitors are required to
register with the Foreigner's Regional Registration Office
(FRRO) within 14 days of re-entry.
- Visa exemption does not apply to nationals of Cyprus,
Hungary, Israel, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Russian Fed. and
Tajikistan holding diplomatic or official passport, if
employed by an international organization.
- Individual visitors requiring visas are adviced to apply for
a tourist visa (not for an ordinary visa), to avoid problems
on arrival. This will entitled them to special facilities.
- Nationals of any country other than Bhutan, Maldives and
Nepal, belonging to a Tourist Group arriving by air for a
stay of a specified period: Travel agency (approved by the
Indian Ministry of Tourism) should obtain prior permission
from the Immigration Officer in charge. The representative
of the local travel agency will be held responsible for
accompanying the group at all times during their stay in
India. Permission to enter the country will be granted only
upon submission of the name of the group, the number of
passengers, details of the itinerary (incl. port of
departure) and passport number, date of birth and
nationality of each passenger.
- Valid visas in expired passports are still acceptable,
provided accompanied by a valid passport of the same
nationality of the expired passport.
- Restricted/Protected Area Permits: A permit is required for
foreigners (SEE NOTE 23756) wishing to visit the following:
Protected Areas:
- Parts of State of Manipur
- Parts of State of Mizoram
- Parts of State of Arunachal Pradesh
- Whole of State of Nagaland
- Whole of State of Sikkim
- Parts of State of Uttaranchal.
- Parts of State of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Parts of State of Rajasthan .
- Parts of State of Himachal Pradesh.
Restricted Areas:
- Whole of Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands
- Part of the state of Sikkim.
NOTE 23756: Not required for nationals of:
- Bhutan travelling by air to/from Bhutan via Bagdodra;
- Nepal travelling by air to/from Kathmandu.
- However, if surface travel is involved and nationals travel
via restricted areas, they require a "pass" issued by
either the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (located
in each major Indian city) or Superintendent of police
(located in each Indian district) or the diplomatic
representation of India in Bhutan or Nepal.
- Visa extensions possible, except for Tourist T and Transit
visas, by applying at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Warning:
- Holders of normal passports issued by Pakistan are required
to hold two copies of their visa application form (issued by
the Indian Mission concerned).

arrival.
- Nationals of Thailand must hold passports valid for at
least one month.
- Those residing in Oman may enter with passport and visa
valid on arrival.
Admission and Transit Restrictions:
- Admission is refused to nationals of Israel.
Crew Members:
- Passport and Crew Member ID Card are required. Passport must
contain enough unused pages in case an additional
immigration stamp is required. Crew have to complete a
General Declaration Form upon arrival. For crew of ad-hoc
flights this form is completed by Oman Air Handling at
Muscat International Airport. All crew must wear a uniform.

stay of 72 hours, provided holding onward tickets. Fee: OMR
5.- if transiting within 72 hours; free of charge if

- Housemaids/private drivers of nationals of GCC Member StatesTIRGL/GCC can obtain a visa on arrival for a max. stay of

can obtain a visa on arrival, free of charge.
Additional Information:
- Visas of expatriate employees resident in Oman will be
automatically cancelled if leaving Oman for a stay abroad
exceeding 180 days from the day of departure.
- A residency visa is issued to alien residents of Oman
instead of a residence permit.
Warning:
- Visitors not holding return/onward tickets could be refused
entry.

containing a photograph of the minor.
- Holders of a Temporary passport issued by United Arab
Emirates.
- Holders of Refugee Travel Document issued by Bahrain, Egypt,
Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar,

Document Validity:
- Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid
for at least 6 months on arrival.
- Passport and/or passport replacing documents issued to
nationals of Singapore must be valid on arrival.
- Those residing in Singapore may enter with travel documents
valid on arrival.
- The government of Singapore only recognizes Chinese Taipei
passports that include an ID card number. Those passports
not containing an ID card number require an Entry Permit to
enter Chinese Taipei.
Crew Members:
- A general declaration and Crew Identity Card is required.
Military:
- Passport is not required for holders of a Military ID Card
with movement orders issued to:
- members of Her Majesty's Forces; or
- US military personnel (movement order must be authorised by the commander of the unit).
Additional Information:
- The government of Singapore only recognizes Chinese Taipei
passports that include an ID card number. Those passports
not containing an ID card number require an Entry Permit to
enter Chinese Taipei.
Minors:
- Passport not required for children up to/ incl. 15 years of
age provided travelling with a parent or legal guardian,
and being registered in the passport or passport replacing
document of the companion.

- Nationals of China (People's Rep.) and India can also
transit, one time only, for up to 96 hours without a visa
under the Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) on either the
outbound or return leg of the same journey (but not on
both).
- Nationals of China (People's Rep.) and India may use the
VFTF if holding a Residence Permit (still valid for at
least one month) issued by Australia, Canada, Germany,
Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the
USA.
- Nationals of China (People's Rep.) and India may use the
VFTF if holding a valid single entry visa or multiple entry
visa (still valid for at least one month) issued by

outbound leg of the journey, the VFTF can only be used on

Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep.), Kuwait, Liechtenstein,
Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand,
Norway, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, San Marino, Saudi Arabia,
Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, the United
Kingdom and Vatican City.
- Nationals of Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei,
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (SAR
China), Iceland, Ireland (Republic of), Italy, Japan, Korea
(Republic), Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco,
Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino,
Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A., United
Kingdom (Great Britain) or Vatican City can extend their
stay for another 30 days, against a fee of AED 600.-, if
applied for at least 2 days prior to the expiry date of the
visa issued on arrival.
- A visa:
- included in an expired passport, combined with a valid
passport, can be accepted for travel;
- can be applied for (and issued through internet (e-Visa)),
prior to arrival, if arriving at Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Dubai
Airport (DXB).
- Residents holding an Investor or Partner Visa issued by Abu
Dhabi are permiited to stay out of the United Arab Emirates
for a period of 1 year.
- Resident Visas will be cancelled should the holder remain outside the United Arab Emirates for a period of 180 days.
- Exempt are university students holding a valid universtity
identity card or letter issued by a university, stating
that they are current students.
Minors:
- If named in a parent's passport and being of a visa required
nationality, the minor is also required to be named in the
visa. If the minor is not covered by the visa they will not
be allowed entry. Furthermore, the minor can only be
accepted for travel provided that they are accompanied by
the holder of the passport.
